AI prompts for sports betting: 7 ready to copy

How to talk to ChatGPT, Gemini or Claude so they help you analyse a match without making up data.

A good AI prompt for sports betting asks the chatbot to work with the data you give it, to state probabilities with explicit assumptions and never to invent statistics. Below are seven ready-made templates. They help you analyse and organise information; a calibrated probability and a minimum price need a trained model, and Gambeta already does that for free.

What a chatbot can and cannot do

ChatGPT, Gemini or Claude reason very well, but they do not see live results, do not have up-to-date odds and do not keep a record of their own results. If you ask "who wins on Sunday", they make something up with great confidence.

What it does well

  • Organise and summarise the data you paste in
  • Work out the implied probability of the odds
  • Suggest a stake using fractional Kelly
  • Play devil's advocate against your reasoning

What it cannot do

  • See live results, absences or odds
  • Keep a record of its own results
  • Calibrate probabilities across thousands of matches
  • Know anything you did not give it

That is why AI prompts for sports betting that work follow three rules: you supply the data, you ask for explicit assumptions and you ban invented figures. The step-by-step on using ChatGPT, and why it cannot see live odds or keep a record, is in our guide to using ChatGPT for betting. Here you only get the templates, ready to copy.

  • 1. You supply the dataResults, absences and odds pasted in the same message.
  • 2. Explicit assumptionsIt must say what each estimate rests on.
  • 3. No inventing"Using ONLY this data": if it is not there, say so.
  1. Your dataLast 10 matches, absences, odds
  2. Prompt with 3 rulesData, assumptions, no inventing
  3. ChatbotAnalyses and justifies with your numbers
  4. You verifyDid it cite the data? Is it from your message?

Analyse a match

Analysis

For a first overview: who arrives in better shape and which data point weighs most.

Prompt
Here are the last 10 results of each team, goals scored and conceded, and confirmed absences. Using ONLY this data, estimate the probability of home win, draw and away win and explain which data point weighs most. Do not make up statistics.

Paste inLast 10 results, goals and absences for both teams.

You get backThree probabilities and the data point that tips the balance most.

Find value

Calculation

When you already have a probability and want to know whether the odds pay enough. More on the concept in value betting.

Prompt
The home team's odds are 2.10. My probability estimate is the one I gave you. Work out the implied probability of the odds, compare the two and tell me whether there is value and how much.

Paste inThe real odds at your bookmaker and your estimated probability.

You get backImplied probability, the difference and whether there is value.

Choose the market

Analysis

When you are torn between 1X2, over/under goals or corners.

Prompt
With this data on goals, corners and cards for both teams, which market has the most margin: 1X2, over/under goals or corners? Justify it with the numbers I gave you.

Paste inAverage goals, corners and cards for both teams.

You get backThe market with the most margin and why, using your numbers.

Stake size

Calculation

To size your stake without betting too much. Details in what a bankroll is and in the Kelly calculator.

Prompt
My bankroll is X and my estimated probability is Y at odds Z. Calculate the stake using 25% fractional Kelly and tell me how much to bet.

Paste inYour bankroll (X), your probability (Y) and the odds (Z).

You get backA stake at 25% Kelly, far more cautious than full Kelly.

Stress-test my reasoning

Control

Before confirming a bet: get the AI to argue against you.

Prompt
I am going to bet this for these reasons. Play devil's advocate: give me the three strongest arguments against it.

Paste inYour bet and the reasons you chose it.

You get backThree arguments against, to think it over coolly.

Read a specialised AI

Explanation

If you follow the picks of a trained model and want to understand what each number means.

Prompt
Here is a pick with probability, minimum price and stake. Explain in two lines what each number means and what I should compare at my bookmaker.

Paste inThe full pick: probability, minimum price and stake.

You get backA short explanation and what to compare at your bookmaker.

Check a tipster

Control

So you do not just believe anyone: measure whether a record is big enough to draw conclusions.

Prompt
Here is the record this service publishes. Calculate the return at flat stakes and tell me whether the sample is big enough to draw conclusions.

Paste inThe full record of picks with odds and result.

You get backThe flat-stake return and whether the sample is big enough.

How to feed it the data

Copy the tables of results, squads and odds from your stats source and paste them in the same message. Always ask it to cite which data point it used for each conclusion. If it answers with a number you never gave it, that number is invented.

  1. Gather the minimumLast 10 results of each team, goals scored and conceded, confirmed absences and the odds.
  2. Everything in one messagePaste data and prompt together: the AI does not remember another session.
  3. Ask it to cite"Tell me which part of my message each number comes from."
  4. Save the answerNote the prompt, the answer and the real result to measure how often it was right.

And keep the prompts together with the answers: after a month you will see how often it was actually right, which is the one thing no chatbot measures by itself.

When a prompt is not enough

A chatbot with a good prompt is a fast analyst, not a model. It does not calculate calibrated probabilities on thousands of matches and it does not publish a record. That is what a trained AI such as Gambeta is for: it hands you the pick already worked out (market, probability, minimum price and stake), for free and with every result in the open.

What you needChatbot with a promptSpecialised AI (Gambeta)

The ideal combination: the specialised AI chooses the pick, and the chatbot helps you understand it and challenge it before you bet.

5 mistakes that ruin the answer

Avoid them before you bet

  • Asking "who wins" without giving data: it answers with confidence, but from memory.
  • Trusting the odds it "remembers": it cannot see live odds; always use your bookmaker's.
  • Accepting a number with no source: if it does not come from your message, it is invented.
  • Not saving anything: with no record you cannot know whether it is right.
  • Treating the probability as certainty: it is an estimate, never a guarantee of a result.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best AI prompt for sports betting?

The one that supplies the data, asks for explicit assumptions and bans invented figures. The first one on the list is the starting point.

Can ChatGPT predict sports bets?

It can reason about the data you give it, but it has no live information and no calibrated model. Use it to analyse, not to forecast.

Do these prompts work for NBA or baseball?

Yes, changing the variables: in basketball absences and rest weigh most; in baseball, the starting pitcher and the bullpen.

Do I need prompts if I use a specialised AI?

Not for the pick, which arrives already worked out. Yes for understanding it better or having the chatbot challenge the decision.

Do they work the same in Gemini, Claude or Copilot?

Yes. They are text templates: the style of the answer changes, but the three rules (your own data, explicit assumptions and no inventing) hold for any chatbot.

How do I know whether the AI made up a figure?

Ask it to say which part of your message each number comes from. If it is not in what you pasted, it is invented.

Do these prompts guarantee a win?

No. They help you organise information and think coolly, but no estimate guarantees a result. Only bet what you can afford to lose, and only if you are over 18.
